Im Jahr <a href="United_States_Census_2020" title="United States Census 2020">2020</a> hatte das County 65.763 Einwohner und eine Bevölkerungsdichte von 30,3 Einwohnern pro Quadratkilometer.<sup id="cite_ref-3" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-3"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>3<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Der Verwaltungssitz (<a href="County_Seat" title="County Seat">County Seat</a>) ist <a href="Baraboo" title="Baraboo">Baraboo</a>,<sup id="cite_ref-naco_4-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-naco-4"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>4<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> das nach dem <a href="Baraboo_River" title="Baraboo River">Baraboo River</a> benannt wurde.

<p>Das County liegt im mittleren Süden von Wisconsin und hat eine Fläche von 2197 Quadratkilometern, wovon 28 Quadratkilometer Wasserfläche sind.

</p><p>Es wird im Nordosten, Südosten und Süden vom <a href="Wisconsin_River" title="Wisconsin River">Wisconsin River</a> begrenzt, einem linken Nebenfluss des <a href="Mississippi_River" title="Mississippi River">Mississippi</a>. Von West nach Ost wird das County vom Baraboo River durchflossen, bevor dieser im benachbarten Columbia County in den Wisconsin River mündet.

<p>Das Sauk County wurde am 11. Januar 1840 aus Teilen des Crawford County, Dane County und Portage County gebildet. Benannt wurde es nach dem indigenen Volk der <a href="Sauk" title="Sauk">Sauk</a>.

<p>Nach der <a href="United_States_Census_2010" title="United States Census 2010">Volkszählung im Jahr 2010</a> lebten im Sauk County 61.976 Menschen in 25.461 Haushalten. Die Bevölkerungsdichte betrug 28,6 Einwohner pro Quadratkilometer. In den 25.461 Haushalten lebten statistisch je 2,4 Personen.

</p><p>Ethnisch betrachtet setzte sich die Bevölkerung zusammen aus 95,9 Prozent Weißen, 0,8 Prozent Afroamerikanern, 1,4 Prozent amerikanischen Ureinwohnern, 0,7 Prozent Asiaten sowie aus anderen ethnischen Gruppen; 1,2 Prozent stammten von zwei oder mehr Ethnien ab. Unabhängig von der ethnischen Zugehörigkeit waren 4,8 Prozent der Bevölkerung spanischer oder lateinamerikanischer Abstammung.

</p><p>23,2 Prozent der Bevölkerung waren unter 18 Jahre alt, 60,4 Prozent waren zwischen 18 und 64 und 16,4 Prozent waren 65 Jahre oder älter. 50,3 Prozent der Bevölkerung waren weiblich.

</p><p>

Das jährliche Durchschnittseinkommen eines Haushalts lag bei 52.355 <a href="US-Dollar" title="US-Dollar">USD</a>. Das <a href="Pro-Kopf-Einkommen" title="Pro-Kopf-Einkommen">Pro-Kopf-Einkommen</a> betrug 26.144 USD. 9,7 Prozent der Einwohner lebten unterhalb der Armutsgrenze.<sup id="cite_ref-7" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-7"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>7<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup></p><div style="clear:left"></div>
